Consumers, Businesses to benefit from new Virginia Pesticide Web Site

(PRWEB) May 16, 2004

A new Web site will help Virginia consumers, businesses and pesticide companies determine what pesticides can be legally used to control pests in Virginia.

According to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), which administers pesticide laws in the state, the public can now access the user-friendly site at www.kellysolutions.com/va to search for pesticide products for a given situation. In the near future, the Web site will expand to include information about pesticide business licenses and certified pesticide applicators.

“Having this important information regarding pesticides readily available on the Internet is part of VDACS’ commitment to making it as easy and convenient as possible to do business with the state,” said Dr. Marvin Lawson, VDACS Director of Consumer Protection.

In 2002 more than 11,280 pesticides were registered for use in Virginia. The new Web site will significantly simplify the process of choosing the correct pesticide from the vast number of choices. Users can scan the entire database to search for pesticides based on the pests they want to control, the product name, the active ingredient, the EPA identification number or several other product attributes.

The site developer KRSNetwork (a service of Kelly Registration Systems, Inc.) currently provides for online renewal of pesticide product registrations, and later will provide online renewal of pesticide business licenses and applicator certificates with the payment of fees by credit card.

Soon visitors to the Web site will also be able to search for pesticide businesses or applicators in their area by name, license number, county, city, or zip code. The site will confirm if an individual or business is currently licensed, provide the license renewal date, and other relevant information.

“This new Web site will benefit both consumers and businesses in Virginia. The information it makes available will help keep the public and the pesticide industry up-to-date about the many choices of pesticide products, companies and applicators,” Dr. Lawson concluded.

Kelly Registration Systems, Inc. (http://www.kellysolutions.com), headquartered in Covington, Georgia, provides similar e-Government services across the United States.
