About the role

As Bid Manager your role will be key to planned and sustained business growth through the sourcing and production of bid proposals within our core markets across the UK.

This role will focus on identifying and evaluating opportunities, then leading and owning the tender management process whilst working collaboratively SME and operational teams across the organisation. An integral member of the business development team, and alongside our SME’s, you’ll manage the end-to-end production of high-quality bid submissions from initial expression of interest through to final submission, taking ownership of the process and content.


  • Establish the function and associated foundations for delivery.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend next steps on all relevant opportunities.
  • Manage and direct all proposal efforts and personnel involved in the identified opportunity.
  • Lead on the development and review of the proposal’s operational solution, strategies and themes.
  • Analyse the bid requirements against the proposal outline to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the customer’s issues and needs.
  • Build the proposal’s compliance matrix and track the fulfilment of all requirements
    throughout the tender cycle.
  • Build a project plan to ensure the timely and compliant submission of the proposal,
    incorporating internal governance and gateway reviews.
  • Take responsibility for the development and completion of storyboarding, ensuring that key win themes are captured and articulated through the technical response.
  • Lead regular proposal progress status meetings and maintain the proposal schedule.
  • Develop material for interim review and internal evaluation of the technical, management, and overall proposal approaches.
  • Lead on writing/editing/rewriting efforts. Coordinate and review/edit proposal input from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from SMEs, operations, HR, finance, commercial, legal.
  • Implement all necessary proposal procedures and processes and ensure their governance.
  • Competitor analysis, particularly in the area of pricing and service-provision.

Essential experience

  • Experience of setting up a function, with end-to-end management and delivery of bids
  • Experience within our core markets and demonstrable success/win rates
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels, including to senior
  • Strong planning / time management / prioritisation skills
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills
  • Strong presentation skills

Desirable experience
