Homebased. A degree of flexibility with remote working and working at our offices. Frequent travel will be required to Bristol, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Reading. Office locations can change over time.

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Service to manage the day-to-day functions of the team, ensuring we have a clear strategy and deliver a consistent high quality service directly to children and young people.
You will achieve this by ensuring we;

  • Adhere to statutory guidance and service criteria.
  • Have suitably trained and supported staff, workers and volunteers.
  • Embed effective policies, procedures and processes.
  • Ensure continuous process and delivery improvement.
  • Have in place a clear service development strategy.
  • Have a professional, open and honest relationship with our customers.
  • Have effective evaluation and reporting mechanisms.

You will be part of the management team and work in collaboration with other service leads to oversee and lead on developments relating to improvement and growth for the organisation, including training, engagement and marketing.

The post is subject to 2 references including previous employer, evidence of right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check.

Duties, Responsibilities and Job Activities

Staff management
  • Ensure Safer Recruitment of employees, workers and volunteers.
  • Ensure there are sufficient employees, workers and volunteers to deliver the services and meet KPIs.
  • Line manage the co-ordinators for advocacy and independent visiting.
  • Ensure all employees, workers and volunteers have training, supervision and support appropriate to their role.
  • Lead on employee, worker and volunteer engagement across the service.
  • Undertaking the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Oversee payroll, HR.
Contract Management
  • To have lead responsibility for meeting the performance targets of the team and to report these to the Leadership Team, staff and Commissioners as required.
  • Ensure that the KPIs set by contract and internally are collated and reported on.
  • Attending monitoring meetings as contractually agreed.
  • Deliver any contractual agreements as requested by customers.
Financial management
  • To manage budgets and expenditure so as to ensure that resources are optimised and that the income and expenditure is correct and within expectations and budget.
  • Oversee spot purchases and ensure growth of such by working across sister services.
Service Development
  • To support the Leadership Team by advising on strategy, policy and future direction of the service, ensuring effective feedback and translation into service delivery.
  • Keep Leadership Team informed of any issues or shortfalls in service providing suitable action plans to address these matters.
  • Lead on marketing materials to advertise and promote our services both within and beyond contracts.
  • Be competitive, motivated and proactive in relation to identifying a wide range of Social Care sector tender opportunities and work collaboratively within the Group to be able to submit tender proposals and deliver successful bids.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and development.
Partnership working
  • To work in partnership with the Management Team and wider Antser Group on projects across the service to generate growth and development.
  • To lead on developing the existing portfolio of customers in children’s and adults voice market to generate new business and / or additional revenue with relevant managers.
  • Be a subject matter expert and contribute to the service wide group learning and development.
  • Represent the company and seek at all times to build the reputation of its services.
Other requirements
  • To work to tight deadlines and be able to respond to changing priorities.
  • Represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times, demonstrating an understanding and commitment to good practice in social care.
  • To identify forthcoming changes relevant to our business at the earliest opportunity, providing the Leadership Team with information about their likely implications and our required actions.
