Learning outcomes

  • Define Domestic Violence and Abuse.
  • Understand the impact of domestic abuse on the non-abusing parent, including how this can affect their capacity to care for their children.
  • Identify how domestic abuse can adversely impact on children’s safety, development and emotional well-being.
  • Know how to respond to any concerns around domestic violence and abuse.
  • Understand some of the additional risk factors associated with domestic abuse, including mental ill health, substance misuse / alcohol use.
  • Have an awareness of the roles and responsibilities of different agencies in providing services to parents and children experiencing domestic abuse.

Description

The course aims to raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence and abuse on children and families. By the end of the session, participants will feel more confident in their ability to recognise and respond to the needs of children living in households affected by domestic violence and abuse.

The course is aimed at staff who have previously attended Level 3 Multi-Agency Child Protection training, but no specialist knowledge is required. 

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
