Learning outcomes

  • To understand the characteristics of families who neglect and the risks of overestimating potential for improvement.
  • To understand the differences between neglect and other forms of child abuse
  • To gain knowledge of the messages from serious case reviews involving neglect
  • To understand the range of tools to assess the impact of neglect on the child and their development.
  • To understand the various theories around parenting styles and of ‘good enough’ parenting.
  • To learn about frameworks for the assessment of neglect and the use of the Salford Graded Care profile

Description

To raise awareness and effectively equip practitioners with information from research and practice evidence to identify signs and indicators of neglect and the impact on children.

The course is aimed at staff who have previously attended Multi-Agency Child Protection Level 3 training, but no specialist knowledge is required. 

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
