Learning outcomes

 

  • Promote a shared understanding of the tasks, processes, principles, roles and responsibilities outlined in national guidance and local arrangements for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Understand the social model of disability.
  • Understand the issues faced by parents of disabled children.
  • Learn how to communicate with disabled children, to be able to recognise the perceived barriers to communication and to carry out assessment of their needs, and enquires and investigations of abuse or neglect, including disability equality and deaf awareness.
  • Have knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and procedures and their application to disabled children.

Description

To introduce participants to the interface between disability and safeguarding. To recognise ways in which disabled children can be more vulnerable to harm.

Delegates will learn how to apply a variety of tools of practice tools in their work with the children and young people with disabilities.

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
