A session to provide an overview of 2024 changes in safeguarding legislation to be able to understand and reflect on the changes and implications for practice.

Background

A government consultation was launched on 21 June 2023, seeking views on the revised statutory guidance, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023.  The consultation closed in September 2023.

Working Together sets out expectations for the system that provides help, support and protection for children and their families. Following a complete review of children’s social care, the Government has published a strategy to transform how we work with families, named Stable Homes Built on love. This strategy for reform set out proposals in response to recommendations from Josh MacAlister’s Independent Review (Care Review) of Children’s Social Care (2022), the Child Safeguarding Practice Panel’s National Review into Child Protection in England (following the murders of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and Star Hobson) (2022) and the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) Children’s Social Care Market Study (2022).

The revised statutory guidance was born out of the government’s ambitious plan to transform children’s social care – committing to support every child to grow up in a safe, stable, and loving home.

This course is delivered by our experienced facilitator and you will receive a certificate of achievement upon completion.
