Learning outcomes

  • To enable participants to gain a greater understanding of the way they interact with young people in care.
  • To explore the part that behaviours we find difficult to engage with plays in the interaction between worker and young person.
  • To have the opportunity to take a step back behind the behaviour, into the experience of the young person.
  • To integrate this into a realistic way of working on a day to day basis.
  • To realise that wearing ‘masks’ is an everyday way of protecting ourselves.
  • To build confidence in finding more creative ways to engage with children and young people to improve our interactions and work with them.
  • To take away practical strategies and resources.

Description

This course will give participants a better understanding of the ways we construct identities for ourselves as a strategy for coping in and interacting with the world which they can use to improve their own working practice.

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
