Learning outcomes

  • To understand the current mechanisms for authorising a deprivation of liberty, and your role in this;
  • To understand what is changing and why;
  • To understand what the key differences are between current mechanisms and the Liberty Protection Safeguards, and what the changes will mean for you;
  • To develop/enhance your skills to recognise a deprivation of liberty;
  • To develop/enhance your ability to determine whether a deprivation is in a person’s best interests.

Description

The aim of this 3 hour workshop will introduce participants to the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) and help them prepare for implementation by understanding the key differences between the LPS and current legal frameworks and how their role will change. The course will also explain what constitutes a deprivation of liberty and how to apply the acid test.

There are 2 versions of this workshop available to ensure that content relating the ‘role’ of the participant is reflective of the audience.

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
