Safeguarding Adults Enquiry Skills

This highly specialised course supports participants in developing a comprehensive overview of thresholds for completing Safeguarding enquiries.

Learning outcomes

 

  • To understand the key legislation and national resources that dictates and shapes safeguarding practices;
  • To understand the role of local procedures and how this applies to the legal context;
  • To understand the core principles, duties and values of adult safeguarding and how to put them into practice;
  • In particular, to develop skills around making safeguarding personal and ensuring that the adult is at the centre of intervention (including advocacy);
  • To improve confidence and skills to make robust decisions and recommendations and contribute effectively to all stages of the safeguarding process;
  • To develop key enquiry skills, including professional curiosity;
  • To learn how to undertake a risk assessment and contribute to the development of a Safeguarding Plan.

Description

The course is for experienced practitioners from the local authority, health care sector and partner organisations who are involved in the multi-agency safeguarding response.

This 1 day course is aimed at social workers and social care professionals who are involved in safeguarding enquiries.

Delegates knowledge of the role they play in the safeguarding process will be enhanced, and key enquiry skills developed. Delegates will be able to test their learning throughout the day by applying a range of case study scenarios and discussing actions and outcomes with peers and the trainer.

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
