Description

Young people have a lot to think about growing up. Exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity should be a positive experience for all young people, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans young people. However, it isn’t always easy to know how best to support a young person as they begin to think about who they are, nor obvious how to make sure they have everything they need to develop and flourish. This training aims to improve workers/carers confidence and knowledge, signposting to services and sites.

This course aims at developing the participant’s knowledge and awareness of LGBTQIA+. By attending this course participants will look at the language they use and consider whether this promotes the rights of people who identify as LGBTQIA+.

Throughout this course we will explore how they can support those they work with to express their sexuality and actively establish relationships as well as recognising mental health issues that can arise as a result of LGBTQIA+ issues. In addition to this, we will emphasize on understanding the legislation in relation to LGBTQIA+ and the duties that this places on us as social care workers. This course is ideal for mixed groups of adult and children’s practitioners as well as partner agencies.

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
